Take your health into your hands

Sadly, the numbers of people living with chronic illnesses in the UK have been rising:

The number of people with heart disease continues to grow, partially due to rising rates of obesity and diabetes.

Chronic respiratory diseases have increased due to factors like air pollution and smoking. In 2023, more people are being diagnosed with chronic respiratory issues than in previous years.

The number of people with severe stages of chronic kidney disease is projected to rise from 3.25 million to 3.9 million by 2033, driven by diabetes and hypertension.

Mental health issues have surged, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a reported 25% increase in demand for mental health services.

Nutrition plays a significant role in the rise of many chronic illnesses. Poor dietary habits are closely linked to several conditions, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, certain cancers, and respiratory and kidney diseases.

This comes as the NHS struggles to provide the necessary resources for people the with complex, long term needs that people with chronic illness have.

Why not invest in prevention of unnecessary chronic illness? Why not empower people to take care of their health and find coping strategies?
